I took the introductory 2hr course Monday with instructor Sam. He was a very knowledgeable and extremely talented pilot and instructor. He went over the basics of the helicopter controls and how they relate to flight followed with some introductions to the Schweizer 300c pre-flight checklists. He went over the startup procedures and got us airborne for a spectacular view of Fairfield and licking county on our way towards Buckeye Lake! It was an amazing feeling learning how the helicopter feels with the controls and how they all relate to one another. There seems to be a lot more than anticipated during low level hovering and takeoff/landing. I look forward to learning more about fine tuning the art of hovering and close ground flight. We took a second flight over Buckeye Lake after returning for a refueling break. I felt a lot more confident in the controls during flight but still wobbly when it comes to close level hovering exercises lol. I highly recommend to anyone that has always wanted to fly a helicopter or pursue their license to get ahold of Havens and set up an intro flight course…..so very much worth it!! I hope to continue along and become a student:) A+++ service and instruction!
