This experience is awesome! The 5 of us were speechless (for a change!). The pick up and safety explanations were efficient and friendly (as was the pilot). None of us had been in a helicopter before, so that was brilliant (and well worth the added cost…flying out to the reef and cruising back). The ‘fly/cruise’ package is operated by 2 separate companies who seem to work in harmony without problems. Communication before and leading up was excellent. Gluten free was catered for (the buffet meal at the reef is ‘adequate’). The catamaran cruise back was ‘lumpy’ and many passengers experienced sea sickness (not due to the vessel and staff were supportive). If we repeated this trip, we’d fly back too!! And only cruise to/from Hamilton Island…1 hour out and back in calmer waters!
