We went up in the air on 2/15/26 at 8am. The weather was okay but we had to adjust our itinerary. The day we were up in the air, episode 42 started while we were flying. Our plan was to try and see the active volcano by air, but we knew it may not happen. As we were getting ready to head that way, the national parks raised the ceiling to fly over to 10,000 feet. That height put us into the clouds and we wouldn't see anything, so Christian adjusted our flight path. It was a great trip anyway. Christian did a great job teaching us about the area and volcanoes and keeping us informed what was happening. I highly recommend this company.

The whole crew were just fantastic and professional. Jackie was very pleasant and took us in and very accommodating as well. Oskar was a phenomenal tour guide. He was very personable, witty, but most of all very well-experienced driving the chopper. Knew exactly how to navigate when we had windy situations, took around safer paths, while still making sure we were having a blast. I felt very safe. Additionally, he is a wealth of knowledge of the area and helped spot a bunch of cool wildlife as well (even saw a shark!). Overall, the team is just superb and absolutely a must-try.

We had to reschedule a couple of times due to weather. We appreciated their honesty and advice. When we finally had the chance to fly, Abby was our pilot. She was AWESOME! She made us feel super comfortable and was knowledgeable about the area we flew. We will definitely fly with Mauna Loa again and hopefully we can have Abby as our pilot again! Highly recommend this company for helicopter tours. If you are having a hard time deciding, just book through Mauna Loa and ask for Abby as your pilot. A++

Second only to seeing lava flowing from Kilauea, flying with Mauna Loa was the highlight of our first trip to Hawaii. Jackie and Cristen were very helpful with scheduling our flight and accommodating our requests. The ride itself was fantastic. Our pilot Oskar went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and entertained. Flying into a canyon on the Kohala Coast to see the waterfalls is a must. Highly recommend flying with Mauna Loa to see the Big Island.

We chose a private tour, which was so much better than a group. It enhances the experience a lot. The pilot, Lance, was very knowledgeable and engaging. Because the weather was not great, he gave us several options for our tour, which made us feel like we had some control in what we could see. He was very communicative the whole time and truly tried every way he could to take us where we wanted to go, safely. While the weather prevented us from seeing volcanoes, we still very much enjoyed this tour and the experience they gave us.
