If I could I'd give Alaska Ultimate Safaris 10 stars. Eric was an awesome guide, pilot, and comrade during our trip to the Funnel and Moraine Creek region in the Katmai National Park. Eric pointed out important landmarks, mountains, volcanoes, etc. during our flight in on the floatplane. Once on the ground and the plane was secured, Eric organized our group of six and we began our trek. Being the experienced guide, Eric knew not to chase where the bears could be seen, but to plot an intercept course along the salmon laden creeks. We were not disappointed as we observed countless bears and several family units from very close and close. Having been on safaris in Africa and elsewhere in North America, the day spent with Eric ranks amongst the best. Highly Recommend Alaska Ultimate Safaris.

May 16, 2024 I cannot rave enough about my experience with Alaska Ultimate Safaris and Eric. I had no clue Homer is an area for plane and helicopter tours for bears and once I realized I started searching, emailing, calling. One company offered a private float trip plane for $5000 once I told them I physically could not walk 4 miles due to physical limitations. The only other person to reply was Eric and as soon as we spoke he made me feel 100% comfortable with his experience and me not being able to walk /stand a lot. Most tour companies don’t go this early in the year but because Eric planned on going out any way he called and offered me a spot on the helicopter. He was patient, kind, personable, and professional. Had binoculars on the ready. Asked for my phone and shot pictures for me since I was alone. Eric knows the terrain and where to go. He promised me one bear. We saw one black bear and three brown bears. He respects animals and their surroundings and wouldn’t get too close. His knowledge of the area, Alaska, and the animals is extensive and informative. The ride was smooth even though it was raining a little. Wear thick socks and lots of layers. Eagle ✔️ Crane ✔️ Sea Otter ✔️ Seals ✔️ Fox ✔️ Black Bear ✔️ Brown Bear ✔️ Thank you Eric for a once in a lifetime experience and I will try my best to get back during July one year.
One of best experiences I have had in my 20 plus trips to Alaska. The helicopter ride and pilot were awesome. Kirsten was knowledgeable and fun. The tour is worth every dollar if you want to see incredible scenery and bears. Was able to see 50-60 bears (some unbelievably close). Can't wait to do again someday.
Simply the best day you could have on the Kenai Peninsula and in Homer, Alaska! The bears are the stars for sure here, but they aren't the only stars of the show! The team at Alaska Ultimate Safaris makes the day magical on top of Bears, Wolves, Whales, Otters, Eagles... excitement abounds wherever this crew takes you! The bears are addicting though! The glaciers are epic and flying by volcanos is seriously fun. Both the Helicopter and Float Plane are great, hard to choose! Could not ask for a better day spent in nature with the coolest crew around!!!
The absolute highlight of my entire trip to Alaska. The helicopter ride offered beautiful views. My tour guide Eric was knowledgeable about the terrain and the bears. And boy were there bears! Lots of bears. Close bears, playing bears, nursing bears, sleeping bears. This is the place to go to see the bears. Eric also brought us snack bags which were nice. He made sure we acted safely around the bears too, which also let us be closer to the bears without scaring them off.
